Hair + Skin Essentials for Summer Care

This heat is bananas yall! For Texans anyway, it’s been a record hot and dry summer, with no-break in 100 degree days yet…. With that in mind, the sun here has been extra SPICY, and it’s triggered me to share with yall a few essentials you need in your arsenal to get through the summer without looking wilted, dried out, or damaged from the sun and water.

First up is a reef-safe sunscreen that I absolutely LOVE because it’s mineral oil free and safe for extension wearers. There’s no risk of compromising your hair color or your skin health. A little goes a long way so be sure to rub it in well to minimize the appearance of it on your skin. Label readers, you’re going to like the ingredient list on this one! I’ve included the full ingredient list below. It smells so good, does a great job protecting your skin from the sun, biodegradable and reef-friendly natural-ingredients, efficient packaging and the formula won’t affect your hair color due to being mineral oil free. You’re going to love it! SPF 15 SPF 30

Aloe Vera Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Cetearyl (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Organic Rosa Canina (Rose Hips) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Squalane, Linoleic Acid (and) Linolenic Acid, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Oil, Passiflora Edulis Seed (Passion Fruit) Oil, Green Tea Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Vitamin E Tocopherol, HydroxyEthyl Cellosize, Caprylic Acid (and) Lauric Acid (and) Propanediol (and Potassium Sorbate) and Natural Fragrance.

Next is the ever faithful Swimmers Shampoo from Malibu C. If you’re in the water, you NEED a g00d clarifying shampoo that’s going to remove chemical and mineral build-up from your hair shafts. But not something too harsh that it strips your color or takes away your shine. Hair is extremely porous, so when you jump in the pool, lake, ocean, etc. it instantly swells and absorbs the water and the minerals/chemicals that it contains. This bottle of goodness is exactly what you need to maintain your hair color and shine, without letting it get brittle or damaged. Be sure to use after a day of water fun to maintain a balanced scalp and shining/ healthy head of hair. Malibu Swimmers Shampoo

Lastly, the perfect sunscreen stick that is both travel and adventure friendly. Small and compact, but contains plenty of product to last you through the season! I love this sunscreen stick and in fact I include it in all of my aftercare bags for my Microblading clients. It’s the perfect protection to keep brow pigment from fading and to help the brows stay protected while they are healing. It’s also a great easy option for applying sunscreen to your face without the worry of it not rubbing in or leaking into your eyes (ouch!), not to mention it doubles as a great chap stick for the winter months! Sunscreen Stick

Whatever activities you’re participating in this summer, make sure you’ve got your skin & hair  protection arsenal fully-stocked and prepared so you can indulge in the fun and not have repercussions later (like damaged hair, skin, and brows).

I don’t even chew gum. 🤣
These two clowns. Isaiah came over after work to help Dustin hang our new tv cover since the weather took out our other one. Of course it’s raining all week and a tarp can only do so much.
So I made home made chicken spaghetti with my farm raised chicken, by yours truly, and home made fresh milled pasta to feed everyone since we appreciate the help so much.

I said let me take your pic. This is their insta pose. 🤣

This tv cover is amazing! It’s UV resistant, weather resistant and I don’t have to make sure no one left the cover off! Win/Win! 🤍

Secrets to my success:
💋 I treat my clients like they are always right. I’m seeing more and more girls, especially with only a couple years experience, lay boundaries down for paying clients. While yes, our time is valuable but there is no value in no clientele. Learn the balance. Respect comes when earned.

💋 I don’t say no. I worked weekends, nights, my days off and every hour in between. You can be selective once you build. And even then I didn’t get selective until year 15.

💋I tell my clients the truth. I tell them I won’t cut it, or I’m cutting it, or they can or can’t have a perm. I tell them when a color won’t look good with their skin. I tell them they don’t need bangs bc they are emotional.

💋I educated myself and then my client. I don’t jump on bandwagons. I don’t recommend products bc of cute packaging or smell. I researched. I know my lines and products like the back of my hand. So I educate my clients to use quality products and honestly, not very many of them. They don’t need more products, they need the right ones.

💋I get personal. I over share and I make them feel comfortable talking about their life too. My clients are my best friends and I am theirs. We talk about our lives, lift each other up, share experiences and wisdom. Some of my best advice came from my clients and I pass on to others. Trust is built here.

Success comes in more ways than one. It’s not just skill. It’s all in the heart. Your clients aren’t a business transaction and don’t need more walls.

They need kindness, care and concern. Skill is a bonus. ✌🏼
